Visual Art Activity Plan: The goal of this project is to plan and demonstrate a developmentally appropriate art experience for a young child or small group of children. Students will use a children’s book to get inspired and plan for an art project. Students submit step-by-step instructions of the art activity in a PowerPoint Presentation. NO children please.
Objective: Design and explain developmentally appropriate activity plans based on the skill levels and abilities of young children.
Instructions: Create an Art activity developmentally appropriate for young children which would allow hands-on learning and exploration of materials.
Before you begin:
- You will choose an age group (i.e., Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers, Prek/Kinder. Years)
- You will use the children’s book you chose:
- You will use a developmentally appropriate children’s book to get inspired and plan for an Art Project.
- You will plan for a 2-dimensional Open-Ended (Process) Art activity.
- You will practice and reflect on why lesson planning is important.
- You may get ideas from Pinterest, but must be recreated your way! (NO plagiarism allowed)
- Materials must be safe, fun and explorative (e.g., loose parts, fabrics, recyclables, refer to your notes/textbook).
- NO children please.
- NO coloring book or pages.
- Remember Open-Ended materials (e.g., loose parts or conventional materials such as glue, paints, stamps, etc.).
