Answer the following questions for the course readings you have signed up for on the Reading Response Sign-Up page. Reading Responses are due by the start of the class period on which the reading is assigned.
- Write out the citation for the article. You can choose between MLA or APA.
- Identify the rhetorical text/case study/public memory the author(s) analyze(s). Basically, what are they critiquing/analyzing?
- 3. Quote the thesis (with page #) and paraphrase it in your own words.
- 4. Identify how the subject/text being analyzed has/have used persuasion to normalize/justify certain beliefs/policies/actions. Describe which persuasion techniques from the textbook are relevant to the article’s analysis.
- 5. Identify five ideas, quotes, statistics, arguments, etc. that surprised, confused, upset, or interested you. Note the paragraph number of each excerpt and explain what drew you to each passage. For instance, if you were surprised, why? If you were confused, what’s a question you could ask to help you better understand? If you’re upset, what about the text made you upset? Or, what about the passage did you find interesting?
