Topic: HUMAN IMPACT ON OUR PLANET
Rhetoric: You must incorporate appeals to logic, emotion, and authority/credibility in your speech (also known as logos, pathos and ethos). Your speech should also include a counter argument that addresses and refutes the “other side” of the issue.
Research: You are required to support your logic with researched information. You will need to find, use and correctly cite at least three credible sources of information. You will prepare an APA-style references page that lists the sources of all information presented in your speech. You will also need to parenthetically cite sources of any specific examples, statistics and quotations in your outline (like the last speech)
Visual Aids: A visual aid is not required for this speech, but you should use one if it suits your topic. Images and graphic data that support your reasoning can be very convincing. But understand that if you choose to show a video, you are giving up some of your own speaking time to show it. Adhere to the guidelines in Chapter 14.
Delivery: In persuasive speaking, strong delivery connects you with your audience and is a large part of your credibility. Your choice of words can add emotional impact, so choose them wisely. I will also evaluate your vocal inflection, fluency and pauses, gestures and eye contact.
