De Anza College Moffett Field Historical Museum Essay
Description
COVID 19 UPDATE:
Given the situation with the current public health concern and the fact that many students are under orders to Shelter-in-Place, I realize that visiting a site in person is impossible. At this time I would encourage students to visit any of the museums below virtually (using the internet) and complete the extra credit remotely. This may not be the most satisfying attempt because these sites aren’t really designed to be virtual visits but we’ll try our best!
Choose one of the sites listed below:
The Ainsley House (Links to an external site.) in Campbell. (I saw them move this house down the street!)
History Park at Kelley Park (Links to an external site.) in San Jose.
Prusch Farm Park (Links to an external site.) in San Jose.
Peralta Adobe and Fallon House (Links to an external site.) in San Jose.
- The Winchester Mystery House (Links to an external site.) in San Jose. (A virtual tour is available!)
The Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum (Links to an external site.) in San Jose.
Moffet Field Museum (Links to an external site.) in Mountain View.
- If you find an interesting place in your local community get pre-approval from the instructor before visiting. I’m always looking to add options for this assignment.
The Task:
Write a brief essay based on your visit – describe the place and the setting.
- Explain the historical significance of this site.
Explain why you selected the locale.
What insight has this class given you for the context of your visit?
