The Polynesian Triangle is composed of all the islands within the triangle created by New Zealand, Hawaii and Easter Island. The peoples of Polynesia originated in South East Asia, primarily The Philippines, and over the centuries, populated these islands. All Polynesians can trace their DNA back to original settlers on Tonga.

Your assignment is to write a 3 page paper on a topic related to Polynesian Dance. You may discuss all the different island traditions or you may choose one island to focus on, such as Hawaii, Fiji or Tonga.

Do a bit of research on the islands and their dances, and decide the scope of your topic.
In your paper, I would like you to include a description and YouTube video (or link) of the dance or dances you are focusing on, a history of the region, an understanding of how dance connects to the values and traditions of the culture, and how (or if) these dance traditions are being incorporated into contemporary dance forms or contemporary traditions.
