Students are required to read a book relating to the course topics and create a 2-3 page, double spaced book report. Students are welcome to form a book group with other students who would like to read the same book, but it is not a requirement. If you choose to read a book as a groups each member of the group is still expected to submit their own book report. Students will meet during class on week 12 and will be grouped with students who read books about similar topic areas.

The report rubric is available on Blackboard. The book report should address:  

• What is the topic of the book? What is the author’s argument or position?  
• What did this book teach you and change the way you think about the topic?  
• What further questions did the book raise?
