In the precious lecture, you were introduced to Direct Manipulation. The idea being there is a metaphor for a computer interaction to what is done physically in the real world. The most common example is dragging a file to the trash can on your computer. With the assignment you most likely saw it is very hard to come up with a Direct Manipulation that makes sense.

Brainstorm hard tasks on the computer and post a “solution” to it using direct manipulation. If you find a video showing it you can post it and explain or you can describe one that you come up with.

One example that I like is for a “photoshop” like program. These programs are usually really unfriendly for new users trying to do graphic design. Simple Tasks such as aligning graphics can be difficult. This research below was an attempt to make direct metaphors to how you draw on paper (i.e. using a ruler to push objects around and align them)
